Hi I was wondering If I could be an admin and as i'm sure you noticed I'm 4th on this wiki and edited Superman alot... John Corben on planning and other so can I be an admin,Chat moderator anything like that let me know
I wanted to see the code you were using to add the characters to the main page. I like that, so I was thinking of using it for other wikias. I noticed that it says it is restricted to only certain people editing it. I think I need that, so I was wondering how you do that. Thanks.
It's okay! I would like to tell you about it but I forgot it. You can use the templates you like from the wiki! Anyway, I would like to tell that effigy is an arc like haunted so there parts of it like haunted (Effigy: Part 1), so we will create part 1,2... pages just like with haunted. I believe you understood what I said.
I was thinking more in terms of how it comes out in physical form (which will be as one story in volume three after Haunted) and the number of different covers (also basically one), but if you prefer to divide it up into the digital chapters, go ahead. I debated over it in my head and decided not to, but it's easy enough to change that.
I like how you think. I thought it again I agree with you let's like it is now! Also, I would like to create som new characters that I have in main page that should be created. Also do you like the new look of the wiki and of the main page?
Due to the fact that I am only reading the physical copies, it will be a while before I get to read Effigy, so I won't be of much use for the stuff that's in Effigy. Are you wanting to make character infoboxes for the characters that are only in the side stories such as in Effigy that use the color scheme of the issue infobox for Effigy and other side stories when they come? And object, power, location, company, etc as well?
Okay. I wasn't sure. To answer your question about the look, I like it. The background is not distracting (something I worry about when it comes to backgrounds, and the colors compliment the background.
Do you think you could come up with something like that for the Charmed comic wikia? I need a background, but I don't want anything busy or anything something that is repeated over and over, again, or anything too bright. I'd love something like that is that has just one focal point with a background that isn't distracting. Of course for the Charmed comics you have three focal characters, so you either have all three of them or something that represents them (like a triquetra, the Book of Shadows, or the manor, or something else that I haven't thought of). Any ideas?
Let me think of something and I will answer you. You can if you want to find an image of the comics , poster, or the covers of the comics so as to use it( I can create it for you) to create a background.
All the images are very good but I like most the first two for the background of your wiki. Like that 2nd has the word charmed (since it looks very good on the picture). Have we got any news from season 10?
Current word (which isn't much) is that they can't talk about it and they won't be able to for a few more months. My guess is that they thought they had everything worked out and then someone found some sort of wrinkle. I'd like to imagine that they are negotiating more than just season ten (like figurines or other merchandise rights), but my guess is that they are just negotiating the season and we'll hear something about mid year, which bites, because we were hoping to already be three or four issues into the season by now and here we are with no confirmation yet. I figure as long as they are still saying they can't say anything, are chances are good on getting the news we want eventually.
As to the images, the one I wanted was the first one, but then it was smaller and darker then I wanted which is why I kept looking. Since I picked all of them, I think any of them could work, but I see what you are saying about the second one. The placement of the word Charmed is nice, too. And I like that the colors are pretty much all shades of blue and white, which goes with the current color scheme (I think) of purple/violet, so if you think that one would work best, would you try that one for me? Thanks.
I read the physical copies, because I prefer to have something in my hands. As a result, I don't read the digital copies, because it would cost additional money and I prefer to spend that on other things. Unfortunately, it does mean I have to wait. But in only about 15 hours, my waiting will be over . . . assuming I can find my comic book shop. They moved over the weekend and honestly, I don't know their new hours now that they have their own place, again. But I will find it, because they hopefully will have a lot of comics (nine copies of six issues from three companies) for me to purchase and read.
I've been wanting for some time to figure out how to make the infoboxes I made have collapsible tables within them. Tonight I finally figured out how to do it. I thought I would find out if you were interested in having that on this site. I like it, because it makes it so they take up less space when you aren't looking at them and as a result, if you want to pack more info in them, you can and it doesn't look bad. At least that's my opinion.
I think it's a good idea then let's try it! By the way have you started reading the Detective story Arc? It looks very good! Both Batman and Nightwing look extremely well. I believe that Detective story arc won't let us down!
Okay. I had internet problems, so I wasn't able to get it up until today. I tweeked the colors a bit, to go with the Superman theme and still be readable. It's currently on Guardian: Part 1, but I will be changing the rest of them in the next few minutes. If you don't like the colors or want to change something else, let me know.
If you want to use it somewhere else, let me know, so I can give you a list of things to add.
Okay as a test, I added yellow to the character one. I put it on Clark's page. I added several new categories to fill in for the infobox. If you like the way it looks, I will add the yellow color to the issue one, also.
I was wonderif you thought is would be a good idea to add the summaries of the episodes from the show that are at the back of the printed issues, just so we have some guide here of the seasons. I'm not 100% sure, but I think it would be okay to copy those word for word since they are just summarizing. I'd probably put a note somewhere saying that these summaries came from such and such an episode. I assume they are planning on doing this for all the seasons so it'll take a while to get all of them, but it's best to decide sooner rather than later, so if you agree that this is a good idea, it can be started and the format figured out while there is less to do with it and then update with each new issue.
I started a page. I think I have it how I like it. I would have done more, but the internet died and I didn't notice. It does this a lot. I tried to post my typings and it didn't work, because of the internet. You should still be able to get an idea of what I am trying to do. I was going to do seperate pages, but I decided that if I did it the way I am doing it, it works better (in my opinion) and is faster to find. I'm going to make redirects with for each season, so anyone looking for them can easily find them.
Anyway, let me know if you think my idea works. Thanks.
I have these on the Charmed Comic site and I thought I'd add them here. If you have any talent with images, feel free to replace any or all of these images. I did the best I could on the months, but they are nothing fancy. The year one, I got off the internet.
I'm glad you like them. I think it's nice to have a place where you can look for all the information of what came out in a year or a month. And with Smallville, that's four or five things a month since the chapters come out three firday nights out of four. I obviously guessed about the dates of stuff for the Detective chapters, but I felt like keeping going since the pattern seemed likely to continue that way.
I've read the first three. I forgot that four came out last week until it was too late, so I will probably get it next Wednesday. If not then I will get it the week after, my work / school schedule conflicts with when my comic book store is open for the next two weeks.
If it's all right with you, I'd like to fix up the navigation to look something like how I have the Charmed comic site, with one "tab" for issues, another for characters, and a third for miscellaneous everything else.
Ok I am all right with this. Yesterday I read the Charmed #22 and it was fantastic. The story and the sketches were very good and we have finally we have some clues about Rennek. I can't wait for the 23 issue to be released.
Yes, I agree. Charmed 22 was a really interesting read. I told Paul my favorite things about it, mention of my favorite character and Cole's new "title". Definitely lots of interesting things going on. I'm wondering what Cole told Prue. People have lots of speculation about what the summary for 23 means. I'm wondering if there's any chance that it has anything to do with Lawrence Cutler. Much as I enjoyed the short little bonus story, it kind of felt random. So we know that Neena met Charlotte. It doesn't tell much, but a mysterious disappearance, it would be nice to solve that mystery. Of course that could be wishful thinking, but someo e dead is coming back for 23, so why not him. Who do you think it will be?
Okay, I put it up. The comic part should be good, but the rest probably needs some adjusting. Right now there are just two slots for Characters, TV Characters and Comic Only Characters. I need to sort through the categories and figure out how best to include as many of those as possible.
Since this is your site, I want to do things your way. I'm going to tell you how I decide if a character on the Charmed comic wiki should have a page or if they should go elsewhere. That way you know where I stand. I would like it if you would let me know how (if any) you would like to do this differently.
If a character has been mentioned, but never seen, no mater who they are, they go into "Mentioned But Not Seen", which I am considering changing to "Characters Mentioned But Not Seen". If they do later show up they are put onto a different page, either the "Miscellaneous Characters" page or their own page. Anyone who shows up who has been on the show gets their own page regardless of how much or little they appear in the comics. An exception might be if the character was so minor on the show that we really knew nothing about them, but in those cases we probably won't know it's them anyway. For comic only characters they must appear in at least three images or at least two issues in order to get their own page. And we must know something about them that is long enough to make a short page at least. I originally had Coop's Mom and Lawrence Cutler on their own pages, but deturmined their wasn't enough info to do much good, so they were relocated to the "Miscellaneous Characters" page. Despite being related to the Charmed Ones and their family, there just wasn't enough info on them. On the other hand I'm pretty sure Cal Greene's former girlfriend still has a page all her own despite having no name, because there was a decient enough amount of information to do so. It is a judgement call, because I think there were enough images to use and at least partial names for Mitchell Coopersmith's parents and I still put them in miscellaneous, because there just wasn't enough info.
I use similar criteria to deturmine if locations and powers should have their own pages. I do not use this criteria for objects, because at present I only add an object if I think it is significant where the other three I add no matter what.
When their are unidentified masses of characters, like a bunch of school kids or people shopping, these go under "Miscellaneous Characters".
So there you have what I do. How do you want to handle these things?
I agree with everything that you have written , but I believe powers like Superman 's in Smallville they will be used so I decided to put them in different page each. Of course We could use some information about them from the TV show . As for the new powers if they are used a lot and there is enough info about them each will have it's own page.
I think I forgot to clarify. Although I do not yet have one (I think) Powers not frequently used or at least well known would be under "Miscellaneous Powers". I think at present all powers have their own page . . . although when I go through the current arc I bet a miscellaneous page will come into being. Any known powers (such as Superman's would be) would have their own page. Or do you mean all of his powers will have pages regardless of whether they have shown up yet or not? Because that's understandable, seeing as you are likely right that they will show up.
On a slightly different related topic, how do you plan on organizing the lists on the issue pages that show who is in each issue. On the Charmed Comic sight, I organize everything according to the order in which they show up in the issue. Other options are alphabetical or according to importance. There are probably other ways, but that's the ones I can think of. Which way do you prefer?
I believe it's best to do the thing you do, to organize everything according to the order in which each one shows up in the issue. As for Superman's powers, I think it's a good idea all of his powers to have their own page regardless of when their going to show up. I also wanted to tell you that Clark uses a new power at the second part of Guardian and it's new and it is called Multi-Spectrum Vision. However it has been used only one time. I will upload an image for it now.
I am hoping that I will be able to read at least issues 1 and 2 on Wednesday. Sometimes it takes longer when something is just out, but we'll see. If nothing else I have them on order and I'm excited to read them.
